About Us
Our story
Besselink Master Painters Pty. Ltd. is a Dutch family-owned business that has proudly maintained many of the ACT’s most prominent buildings since 1952. We take great pride in the level of service and quality we provide, which has been the hallmark of our business for decades.
Founded in 1952 by two Dutch brothers, Cornelius and Rin Besselink, shortly after migrating from Holland, the business, originally known as Besselink Brothers, quickly grew into one of Canberra’s largest and most successful painting companies, at one point employing nearly 100 painters. In the 1980s, Rene Van Duren joined the partnership with Cornelius and Rin, further contributing to the company's continued growth and success.
In 1998, Cornelius and Rin passed the business on to Cornelius’ grandsons, Elton Willis and Jeremy Zutt, who rebranded it as Besselink Master Painters Pty. Ltd. With Rene Van Duren staying on as a mentor. Since then, we have specialised in maintenance painting, particularly for owner-corporation complexes, embassies, and many iconic government buildings within the ACT.

We are proud members of the NSW/ACT Master Painters Association, with one of our Directors, Elton Willis, serving on its Board of Directors.
Although the ACT does not currently require licensing for the painting trade, our membership with the MPA ensures we adhere to a strict code of ethics and uphold the highest industry standards—offering peace of mind and confidence to our clients.

Elton also currently serves on the Australian Standards Committee CH-003 for Paints and Varnishes, representing Master Painters Australia.
